The Six Days Creation

“Science without religion is lame: religion without science is blind.” – Albert Einstein, 1941

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [2] Now the earth was unformed and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; (Gen 1:1-2)

Theological Respond: Before establishing the case of scientific expectancy into the creation of the world in six days as written by Rabbi Moses in his book Genesis, we must first try to understand the theology of the beginning (principium). Church Father Victorinus on the “creation of the world” writes that God Almighty gave birth to the entire mass for the decoration of His great art in six days and on the seventh which he consecrated the creation with a blessing. For this reason the septenary (a set or group of units in seven) for both heavenly and earthy things are ordered.

Scientific Respond: This was exactly what happened during the Big Bang; an enormous light brightened the entire universe from a singularity. The light didn’t require a medium but was produced from an infinitely hot and dense spot and within less than a fraction of a second, the entire universe was formed. This was the mother of everything that exist energy, matter, time including every atom that was created. Our solar system including the sun formed about 4.5 – 5 billion years ago. This explanation of the mysterious hot dense spot known as the singularity is hardly answered by science. In the first place how did the universe began in the emptiness? Science fails miserably to answer the question and often explains of an unimaginable power. What is the power? We do not know. The only conclusion for the birth of the universe is God’s power that worked in the creation.

2)  3And God said: ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light. (Gen 1:3)

[4] And God saw the light, which it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. [5] And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. (Gen 1:4-5)

Theological Respond: In the principium (beginning) God Almighty made light, and divided equally into twelve hours by day and by night for this reason day might overcome and labour will be refreshed with the alternate change of rest. The division and introduction of 12 hours can be read when our Messiah says “are there not 12 hours in the day?” (Jn 11:9),

Scientific Respond: The source of light is not mentioned only the division of light is told. There is a better way to explain during the Big Bang, electrons caused tiny particles of light making the whole universe to glow. This is how light was created without a source. Later the light was divided from darkness.

[6] And God said: ‘Let there be a firmament

in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the

waters from the waters.’ [7] And God made the

firmament, and divided the waters which were

under the firmament from the waters which

were above the firmament; and it was so. [8] And

God called the firmament Heaven. And there

was evening and there was morning, a second

day.  (Gen 1:6-8)

Respond: Asteroids rich with water and protoplanets (a large body of matter in orbit around the sun or star considered in the developing into a planet) collided with prehistoric earth resulting in water formation. Later, gaseous was released from volcanoes which increased the water level. The activity took more than 4 billion years and the next billion years for the earth to cool, water vapor escaped and freeze the earth’s atmosphere. This resulted in the formation of cloud and tons of water fell on the earth. Water was separated; one remained on earth and one in the atmosphere.

[9] And God said: ‘Let the waters under the

heaven be gathered together unto one place, and

let the dry land appear.’ And it was so. [10] And

God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering

together of the waters called He Seas; and God

saw that it was good. (Gen 1:9)

Respond: It took more than 3 billion years for the oceans and the land mass to be separated. Till today we are experiencing a separation between the water and land.

[11 ] And God said: ‘Let the

earth put forth grass, herb yielding seed, and

fruit-tree bearing fruit after its kind, wherein

is the seed thereof, upon the earth.’ And it was

[12] And the earth brought forth grass, herb

yielding seed after its kind, and tree bearing fruit,

wherein is the seed thereof, after its kind; and

God saw that it was good. [13] And there was

evening and there was morning, a third day. (Gen 1:11-13)

Respond; Many skeptics, atheist and Ishmaelite will question the third day, how can the vegetation grow without the light after all light is essential for photosynthesis. Well, the answer is simple God Almighty already created light in the beginning (Gen 1:3). Only the source of light had to be created. Science is yet to explain that what had happened to the light that was caused from a singularity. So, the fruit bearing plants can survive without the source of light. When we dive into the extreme end of the sea bed where the sunlight even fails to penetrate, in a situation like such, plants at the waterbed thrive without any difficulty. Yes possibilities are high and investigation is small.

[14] And God said: ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day

from the night; and let them be for signs, and for

seasons, and for days and years; [15] and let them

be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to

give light upon the earth.’ And it was so. [16] And

God made the two great lights: the greater light

to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the

night; and the stars. [17] And God set them in the

firmament of the heaven to give light upon the

earth, [18] and to rule over the day and over the

night, and to divide the light from the darkness;

and God saw that it was good. [19] And there was

evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

Respond: Hebrew word used for emit/give light in this verse (owr) can mean both “to be or become light” and to be illuminated or become lighted up’. This is an expression by saying “greater light and smaller light”. The scientific explanation was already been established in (Ezk 32:7-8)

[7] And when I shall extinguish thee, I will

cover the heaven, / And make the stars thereof

black; / I will cover the sun with a cloud, / And

the moon shall not give her light. / (Ezk 32:7-8)

10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations

thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be

darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not

cause her light to shine. (ISAIAH 13: 10)

[9] And it shall come to pass in that day, / Saith the Lord God, /That I will cause the sun to go down at noon, / And I will darken the earth in the clear day. (AMOS 8:9)

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days

shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give

her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the

powers of the heavens shall be shaken: (Matt 24: 29)

Further when we analysis, the glory of the heavenly bodies differ accordingly. The verse in (1 Cor 15:41) explains the functions of such created heavenly bodies. Today, when we examine, the light of moon is essential for a pitch dark night. This is why the verse explains that all those heavenly bodies differ from one another in respect to their utility.

41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory

of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one

star differeth from another star in glory. (1 Cor 15:41)

[20] And God said: ‘Let the waters swarm

with swarms of living creatures, and let fowl fly

above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.’

[21] And God created the great sea-monsters, and

every living creature that creepeth, wherewith the

waters swarmed, after its kind, and every winged

fowl after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

[22] And God blessed them, saying: ‘Be fruitful,

and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and

let fowl multiply in the earth.’ [23] And there was

evening and there was morning, a fifth day. (Gen 1:20-23)

Respond: This was the genesis of life that began in the sea. The earliest fossils of life, unicellular bacteria were first discovered in the rocks embedded in the oceans about 3.5 billion years ago. Within, 1.5 billion years the first complex multicellular life took its course whereas the evolution of the oldest full animal life in the oceans dates back to 630 million years.

This is how science agrees with Bible and the calculation of six days. It also mentions about the ‘‘evening and morning” which is the perspective for the human sense. Bible explains its true calculation in the below mentioned verses.

4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as

yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. (Ps 90:4)

8. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that                                                                     one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a

thousand years as one day. (2 Peter 3:8)

9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours (12) in the

day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not,

because he seeth the light of this world. (Jn 11:9)

Respond: The verse (Jn 11:9) is applied to divide “evening from morning”. In fact, the verse is itself an advanced science and the makers of the clock could be influenced from this Biblical passage. Therefore, when we look around and read about some of the great scientist such as Sir. Isaac Newton, Galileo to name some, they spent their lives investigating Bible more than science.

27And God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. (Gen 1:27)

Theological Respond: On the sixth day God Almighty raised man from soil to be the lord of all things which was created by God upon the earth and in water. Yet he created archangels and angels before he could create man, placing spiritual beings before earthly ones just as light was made before sky and the earth. This sixth day is known as parasceve, which means the preparation of the kingdom. God Almighty completed his works before he created the angles and made man in his own image and likeness so that they shouldn’t falsely assert that they had been his helpers.

And there was evening, and there was morning, one day (Gen 1:5)

Theology Respond: Hippolytus the early church father is very clear on this stand, explaining that the book of Genesis does not say “night and day,” but refers to “one day” referring to the name of the light.

This is why Bible is the only book through which the truth is judged and science is explained.

Jacob Wrestles With God Almighty

Jacob wrestles with God Almighty and wins. God changes Jacob’s name to Israel to signify that he wrestled with God and “prevailed.” (Gen 32:24-30)

Respond: This proves that God Almighty can decent and can enter his own creation and can take any form could be man and even non living beings which is mentioned in (Ex 13:21-22 & 19:9) in the form of a Pillar of Cloud by Day and in the form of Pillar of Fire by Night.

Israel Means “A Prince of God”

God says that Jacob will henceforth be called Israel, but the Bible continues to call him Jacob anyway. And even God himself calls him Jacob in  (Gen 46:2)

Respond: (Gen 30:28) is two chapters before when Jacob is known has Israel (Gen 32:28), and in (Gen 46:2) 2 God spoke to Israel in visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.” Reading this sentence it is clear that Moses the author of Genesis knows who is Israel and goes on to write that Yahweh God “called Israel has Jacob, now when we look back to (Gen 32:28) Yahweh nowhere says that he (Yahweh God) will address Jacob has Israel and says that it is compulsory to say Israel and not Jacob. The verse itself is clear that Jacob got a divine name from Gad Almighty Israel which means “A Prince of God”. So, it is a title or a divine name.

Rachel Trades Jacob For Mandrakes

Rachel trades her husband’s favors for some mandrakes. And so, when Jacob came home, Leah said: “Thou must come in unto me, for surely I have hired thee with my son’s mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.” Presumably God, by telling us this edifying story, is teaching us something about sexual ethics. (30:15-16)

Respond: There is no sexual ethics has both the sisters were competing with each other and moreover both were wives of Jacob so if Leah hires Jacob or not after all it is between husband and wife, so stupid question, and waste of time. If we read (Gen 29:24-30) when Jacob realizes that Laban gave Leah has a wife instead of Rachel to Jacob, Laban said ‘it is not the custom in our country to give the younger before the elder”. Leah is conceived first because this was what Yahweh God saw that she was neglected or hated (Gen 29:31-35). Rachel was jealous of her elder sister Leah that she was unable to conceive so she gave her slave-girl Bilhah to Jacob so she can give a child. This is when Leah gets jealous of Rachel for Rachel gave her slave-girl Bilhah to Jacob and makes her an offer that if Rachel gives Jacob to Leah she will be pleased to give the mandrakes. Later Rachel conceives and gives a son named Joseph (Gen 30:22-24). We notice that it was God’s plan and not human intervention that Jacob bore a sons.

Jacob Names Bethel Twice

Jacob names Bethel for the first time (28:19), before meeting Rachel. Later in (35:15), just before Rachel dies, he names Bethel again. (I guess the name didn’t take the first time.)

Respond: The chapter (Gen 35:1-15) is a summary of Jacob’s journey from Shechem to Hebron, this is why we read certain incidents are repeated such as (Gen 28: 10-22) is repeated in (Gen 35: 1) where God Almighty says to Jacob “move on now and go to Bethel and settle there and make an alter for the God….”. Jacob arrives at Luz in the land of Canaan (Gen 28:19) is repeated in (Gen 35:6). And Jacob is name Israel by Yahweh God (Gen 35:10) which happened in (Gen 32:28). This is why we read the story has been repeated in (Gen 35: 14-15) taken from (Gen 28:19) where Israel names Luz the land has Bethel.

Abraham Needed God’s Aid

Abraham needed God’s help to father Isaac when he was 100 years old (Gen.21:1-2, Rom.4:19, Heb.11:12). But here, when he is even older, he manages to have six more children without any help from God. (25:2)

Respond: To understand we need to rewind to (Gen 17:2) “And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will make you exceedingly numerous.” The same is written in (Rom 4:19-21) 19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was already as good as dead (for he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. 20 No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, 21 being fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. 22 Therefore his faith “was reckoned to him as righteousness.” (Heb 11:12) “12 Therefore from one man, and this one as good as dead, descendants were born, “as many as the stars of heaven and as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.” So, when we read (Gen 25:2) it proves the covenant of Almighty God does not falsify but fulfills.

Abraham’s Insufficient Knowledge Of The Name Jehovah

Abraham names the place where he nearly kills Isaac after Jehovah. But according to (Ex.6:3), Abraham couldn’t have known that God’s name was Jehovah. (22:14)

Respond:(Exodus 6:3) is very clear “I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty or El Shaddai (Heb) (Gen 17:1), but by my name ‘The LORD’ “Jehovah” I did not make myself known to them. According (Gen 22:14) Abraham knew the name of God Almighty, Yahweh but in (Ex 6:3) it is said that Yahweh God did not reveal his name, there is one probability. The First Five Books are written by Moses and the story of Abraham is written by Moses too, so he could had assumed that Abraham could had known or it could be a mistake that instead or writing “God Almighty” he could had written “Jehovah-Jireh” means Jehovah provides.

Lot And His Daughters

Lot and his daughters camp out in a cave for a while. The daughters get their “just and righteous” father drunk, and have sexual intercourse with him, and each conceives and bears a son (wouldn’t you know it!). Just another wholesome family values Bible story. (19:30-38)

Respond: Before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorah, Lot speaks to his future son-in-laws who were to marry his daughters, but his son-in-laws thought he was joking (Gen 19:14). We see here that Lot had arranged son-in-laws for his daughters, but since they took the instruction of Lot lightly they could had perished from the wrath of Yahweh God. Daughters slept with their father (Gen 19:30-38) is not new similar case of incest is noticed when Caine takes a wife unto himself in (Gen 4:17). The Bible never encourages us to do so but these are just records, and one must not forget that these things happened before the law was given. Now it was the daughters of Lot that made him drink a) It was the daughters who did so and Lot was innocent and b) When the daughters slept with their father, Lot was intoxicated by wine and he was not in his senses of the act.

So, the above situations proves that Lot was just and righteous (2 Pet 2:7-8). Reason for such act is Lot’s daughters feared that there was not a single man in Zoar with whom they can consummate and have children. So, Bible has the answers only we need to read the verses before and after.

Lot Offers His Daughters To A Crowd

Lot [the just and righteous (2 Pet.2:7-8)] offers his daughters to a crowd of angel rapers.  (19:8)

Respond: First of all this is a time when world just began after the flood and laws were not prescribed by God Almighty at that time, and hospitality was given importance more. A big example is that when Caine takes wife for himself (Gen 4:17) this was legal and it is record of a story that happened thousands of years back. The Bible does not encourage anyone to do so.

After this act, God Almighty sanction’s a law “that one cannot defile his or her daughter into prostitution. (Lev 19:29)
